Nepal Heart Foundation, Lalitpur Branch in service of people

Background

Nepal Heart Foundation, Lalitpur Branch (NHFL), was established as a branch of the Central Nepal Heart Foundation on 1992 (2049 BS). NHFL is an autonomous community based organization to facilitate preventive, diagnostic and curative cardiac services. The jurisdiction of NHFL is limited to Lalitpur District of Nepal.

NHFL is a non-governmental organization. So, the activities of NHFL are funded by (i) membership fees, (ii) donation from individuals (iii) income generated from the clinic. It operates clinical services to heart patients at a very minimal service fees and is operating at a not for profit model. We have been fortunate to have support from various individual donors and well wishers.

NHFL has launched a long term program with the banner of 'Save the children's heart' to prevent and identify Rheumatic Heart Disease in school going children. NHFL has established Lalitpur Heart Clinic on 12th November 1993. Now the clinic is providing services on cardiology supported by Echocardiography, ECG, TMT, 24 hours Holter monitor, 24 hours ABP monitor, Ultrasound, Pathology Lab, Digital X-ray and Pharmacy along with additional Neurology and Physiotherapy services.

Objectives

  • Provide diagnostic, curative and preventive heart case services.
  • Create public awareness against heart disease.
  • Rehabilitation of heart patients to lead healthy life style.
  • Assisting heart patients for treatment.
  • Provide free medical support to the poor and needy heart patients.

Activities

  • Providing health care service to the patients suffering from different kinds of heart disease through Lalitpur Heart Clinic in nominal fees.
  • Create awareness among people about heart diseases and its prevention.
  • Publication of brochure and pamphlets related to heart diseases.
  • Organize free heart camps at the community level.
  • Establishment of Heart Disease Memorial and Treatment Trusts to help needy and poor patients.
  • Help prevent and identify Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease.
  • Provide / arrange facilities for mass screening of heart disease among school going children and provide free medication to the students suffering from Rheumatic Heart Disease.
  • Provide financial support for heart surgery and other non-communicable diseases like cancer, kidney failure etc.
  • Awareness generation among women about heart disease under Go Red for Women program.

Blood Bank

In collaboration with Nepal Redcross Society, Lalitpur and Rotary International District 3292, we are operating 24 hours Lalitpur Blood Transfusion Center (Blood Bank).
